Background of the school :

Education is the backbone of a nation. It is the base of all sorts of development of a country. The World of education, knowledge, science, ict and governance is in a process of continuous change and improvement. The uses and influences of computer and dissemination of knowledge and information, the effect of reducing the large world to a global village, the consequent of mobility of people from one country another for studies and jobs-search facts of modern life mingle with our burning desire of education our children in the eternal light of Islam and imbruing them with our values a sense of life. The country and the world call for establishing educational institutions aimed at achieving such goals. Academic institutions like a school and a college are the means through which people all over the world, in addition to this family and social effects, try to educate this minds, body and soul. From such an awareness there has been an initiative to begin a school in Chittagong from 1998 which has eventually developed into a college in 2012.

Objective of the school :

The school aims at exploring the innate potentialities in each and every student who chooses to read in it. As the crown of the creation of Allah, everybody has been endowed with enough potentialities and promise in him or her. The school has been trying to bring that out and help it blossom and flower more and more in the students with the passing of each day, month and year. An important objective thus is to make use of the best possible way so that each can learn the contents prescribed for him with ease and comfort, confidence and joy. Let the child be interested in study, find it enjoyable and pleasant. Let not the child grow over the years apathetic to study, let him or her not be bored of learning contents and notes, tired of working out home works and home task ; and frightened of pass or fail, less marks or forced T.C. Thus the main objective of the school is to help the child become a student in a way which does not cause it retarded growth but conforms to its psychological, mental and physical growth and to teach the curriculum to the student in a way which makes study enjoyable, pleasant, interesting and rewarding to him or her.

System of Education :

  • CIHS is visualized as a school which prepares the students from pre-primary level to the SSC examination according to the syllabus under the board of Intermediate and Secondary education, Chittagong. Bangladesh in either English or Bangla medium.
  • CIHS is expected to follow a harmonious blending of the kindergarten and Montessori methods of teaching with our contexts, situation, culture, student's abilities and aptitudes and such other factors.
  • These are a few complementary books or notes to enrich the proficiency of the student's in English and day to day knowledge and also to read the Holy Quran.

Prospects :

  • The prospects of studying in CIHS are wide and encouraging. We hope, one who will obtain the SSC and HSC as a student of CIHS and CIC will be capable of undertaking graduate and Honours courses in any University of Bangladesh, private or government, Agriculture, General, Engineering, Medical or in Foreign university. In other words, we hope, the way CIHS prepares it students from the beginning to class XII by dint of which they shall be adequately proficient for qualifying in the respective admission tests.
  • They may also prepare a little more to appear at IELTS (International English Language Testing System), TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language), GRE (Graduate Record Examination), GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test), SAT (Schoastic Aptitude Test), as per need and try for admission in Froeign universities or prestigious institutions like IBA (Institute of Business Administration) in Dhaka University.
  • We believe every student passing out from CIHS and CIC will be rooted in our history, cultured traditions.

Distinctiveness of CIHS :

  • Among other special features described in the other sections of this brochure, CIHS commits to take care of the individual student on the assumption that every student in the same class is not of the same level.
  • CIHS puts the highest emphasis on teaching both English and Bangla languages and courses in an efficient and methodical way.
  • CIHS emphasizes on beautiful handwriting. The authority of CIHS tries its best to improve the hand-writing of the teachers teaching in the elementary classes so that in return, they can teach the same to their students. At the same time the recitation of t
  • he Holy Quran with Tajbid is also taught with special care.
  • CIHS teaches the student to write down the answers in his own words so that in the final examination he or she can answer with confidence to any creative question and can do home work independently.
  • CIHS teaches the student to prepare answer to or note on a question of his or her own in creative way.
  • CIHS lays the highest emphasis on writing from one's own understanding and in one's words and discourages one to cramming.
  • The students, according to a schedule, will be led to handle and use materials and books of their interests at least once a week in the CIHS library. There are books of stories, tales, fables, folk-tales, fictions, scientific information, adventures, dictionaries, newspapers and journals etc. in both English and Bangla.
  • In the creative classes the students are guided to do, act, write, paint, speak, sing and so on according to their aptitude and innate willingness. Each is pursued to make use of his or her talent independently inside and outside the classes.
  • Though CIHS is not an English medium school, yet it trains its students in Spoken English with particular emphasis. There is an all out effort to teach the students all the four skills viz listening, speaking, reading and writing.
  • We are aware of what we could not do about teaching well all the skills of English language, particularly Spoken English. We have taken the largest effort in this respect and purchased the audio visual aids like the computers added with DVD Rom and supporting language programmes and other instruments like the multimedia projector, the two-in-one and the available BBC English language cassettes. Using such aids for teaching language is obviously very new, not only for our teachers but also for others in the country. However, we are happy that our English teachers are quickly picking up the skills of using these modern aids and the students are having much interest in them. We would like to mention that we are imparting listening practices on English For Today in all the classes in a way which, as far as we know, none in our country has so far done or imitated. By the grace of Allah, we thus hope to improve our performance in the days to come. In the early months of 2015, we will give more emphasis on Spoken English and the Quran Mazid (from KG I- to Class V)
  • Emphasis is given on the interest, inclination, intention and individuality of children.
  • No physical punishment is inflicted upon the students.

Stipend:

The Chittagong Ideal Trust and Chittagong Ideal High School offer attractive stipends for scholars in different classes. Moreover All Hajj Jafar Ahmad Sikdar Trust has donated funds from which CIHS, according to certain rules, has been awarding stipends to the students of this institution since 2003.

Organization and Management :

The initiators and founders of CIHS formed themselves into the Chittagong Ideal Trust. CIHS will be, on the whole, organized, managed and looked after by the Trust. However, the Secondary School is managed by a managing Committee duly formed in time according to the rules of the Board. There is an academic council consisting of eminent academicians, distinguished educationists, Scholars, Writers, Businessmen, Journalists, Social Workers etc. to be nominated by the Trust.
